It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and once went over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was removed Australia required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this championship is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
